Former Red’s World Series Ring Sells For $89K

CINCINNATI — A former Cincinnati Reds player’s World Series ring from another team has sold in an online auction.Former pitcher Scott Williamson’s ring from the 2004 series sold for $89,000 on Tuesday night. Williamson was on the roster of the Boston Red Sox that year.Williamson said he was going to use the proceeds to help with some financial issues and build an indoor baseball park in southeast Indiana.Experts had said that the ring could have fetched as high as $200,000 at auction. Williamson was on the Red Sox roster in 2004, but didn’t pitch in the Series due to injuries.

Cincinnati Reds third baseman Scott Rolen snared his eighth Gold Glove award while Colorado’s Troy Tulowitzki and Carlos Gonzalez were among the first-time winners when the National League’s top defensive players were named on Wednesday.

Trio of Reds earns NL Gold Gloves

Three Reds players were awarded NL Gold Gloves — third baseman Scott Rolen, second baseman Brandon Phillips and pitcher Bronson Arroyo. The awards were announced by Rawlings on Wednesday, with the voting done by the league's managers and coaches.

Votto, Rolen sit out on Saturday
